Context

Diyeva deploys AI voice agents to automate inbound calls for medical practices and clinics. The starting premise: front desks are under constant pressure (calls, triage, scheduling), patients want to reach a practice at any hour, and emergencies must be qualified fast. A well-designed voice agent can absorb a huge share of that load, without degrading the patient relationship.

Challenge

Design an agent that answers in less than one ring, understands the patient's request in natural language, qualifies the situation (simple booking, advice, emergency), proposes a time slot aligned with the practitioner's calendar, confirms by SMS, and knows when to hand off to a human. With enough conversational fluidity that the patient doesn't feel like they're talking to a machine.

Our approach

Voice AI stack orchestrated around three building blocks: real-time telephony to capture and return voice with minimal latency, streaming transcription so the agent hears as things unfold, conversation-tuned LLM to reason and formulate answers. A tool set (function calling) gives the agent access to the practitioner's calendar, call transfer, and SMS confirmation.

Dialogues calibrated on real clinic scenarios: new vs. existing patients, frequent consultation reasons, urgency criteria, edge cases where a human takes over immediately.

Result.

Voice agent deployed in production at Diyeva's client practices. Patients book appointments at any hour, urgencies are properly escalated, and front desks refocus on the human interactions that matter most.
